FORT MYERS, Fla. - A fatal crash involving a car and a bicycle shut down both lanes of a busy Fort Myers road Sunday afternoon.

Florida Highway Patrol tells us 80-year-old Jacobus Vancaulil was riding his bike on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway when he was hit by a car turning near Porto Romano Drive. FHP says the driver of the car, 71-year-old Donna Rice did not see Vancaulil before hitting him and then a light pole.

Vancaulil was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The report says he was wearing a helmet. Charges are pending the investigation.
