OCALA, Fla. (AP) - A north Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a woman after stealing marijuana from her home.
A Marion County judge sentenced 31-year-old Michael Lamar Woods on Wednesday after a jury found him guilty of murder and burglary of a dwelling.
Authorities say Woods had broken into 20-year-old Toni Centracco's home in 2007 to steal marijuana from her boyfriend, Marshall Pardee. Prosecutors say Woods shot Centracco twice in the head when she returned home and witnessed the burglary. Three witnesses identified him as the killer.
The Ocala Star-Banner (http://goo.gl/r6EXjH ) reports that Woods still faces charges for allegedly trying to hire his jail cellmate to kill the state's lead witness.
He is also charged in the 2010 deaths of Pardee and his new girlfriend, Chyavana Hampton.
