PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - The Super Boat Grand Prix race weekend in Charlotte County is quickly approaching and organizers are preparing to kick off the event in style!

Wednesday morning, city council leaders approved a permit for the Charlotte Harbor Super Boat Grand Prix parade on April 11th.  The parade will run from Charlotte High School to West Marion Avenue from 4 to 8pm.

It will include floats and displays of the super boats so spectators can get an up close look.

"So what they're going to do is close down Marion Avenue which is a great idea because it will be more pedestrian friendly down there for people that want to walk around and there's the static display of the boats so people can get up close and personal," says Mayor Rachel Keesling.

The Super Boat races are expected to bring thousadns of people through to Charlotte County that weekend.
