GOLDEN GATE, Fla. - For the first time we're hearing from the mother of Ivan Rose, the 1-year-old Golden Gate boy who died, police say, at the hands of the mother's boyfriend.
WINK News reporter Michael Francis spoke with Clarissa Rose, Ivan's mother about her grief over the loss of her baby boy.
Nikalus Booska, is being held on a $1.5 million dollar bond and charged with aggravated manslaughter and aggravated child abuse. Police say Booska was watching Ivan when the boy suffered the fatal trauma to the head.
"I really don't have any words for what's happened," Rose said.
Investigators told Rose to keep the details private while they work on their case against Booska.
"It's just a mystery," Rose said.
Rose shared a year's worth of memories of Ivan forever locked in her cell phone - a happy, healthy and precious baby boy.
"Right now, we're planning the services and funeral for my son," Rose said.
Ivan died at Joe DiMaggio Hospital. Clarissa Rose had one more moment to cradle her baby in her arms before he passed away. Ivan lived four days after suffering those injuries and Rose said doctors did everything they could to save her son.
