Detectives say 25-year-old Niklaus Booska is facing charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child and aggravated child abuse in connection with the death of 1-year-old old Ivan Rose.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to the baby's home on 2nd street S.E shortly before 6 p.m. Jan. 31, when Ivan's mother, Clarissa Rose, came home from work and found him unresponsive. Ivan had been in the care of Booska. Ivan was pronounced dead Feb. 3 at Joe DiMaggio Hospital in Hollywood, Fla.
Doctors determined that he had suffered head trauma that led to his death. Detectives obtained a warrant for Booska's arrest Friday. Booska was located at the Spinnaker Inn on Dudley Drive, and was taken into custody. Booska made his first appearance in court Saturday. The Judge set his bond at 1.5 million dollars. Booska will be back in court on March 3rd.
