LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help identifying a man accused of stealing an elderly woman's purse after she accidentally left it in a grocery cart.

In the early afternoon hours of January 27th, the victim was shopping at Publix, located at 24600 S. Tamiami Trail. After leaving the store, she grabbed her groceries out the cart and walked to her car, accidentally leaving her purse behind. Within seconds, a large framed, older white male was caught on camera, snatching the purse before the victim realized it was missing. Inside the purse were numerous credit cards, cash, her cell phone and other personal documents. The cards were immediately cancelled before any harm could be done, but detectives are looking for the man who stole from the 80-year-old victim.

Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the suspect are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
