FORT MYERS, Fla. - A motorcyclist involved in a crash just before midnight last night on the Midpoint Memorial Bridge is in the Intensive Care Unit at Lee Memorial Hospital. Initial reports said 25-year-old Rustin Day died as a result of the accident, but he is, in fact, alive and in critical condition.

According to the crash report, Day hit another vehicle on the bridge, which threw him from his bike, over the side of the bridge, and into the trees on McGregor Blvd. below. His bike flipped several times and disintegrated.

The report says he was traveling 120 miles per hour in a posted 45 mph zone.

Alcohol and drugs are suspected as factors, but test results are pending.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The crash shut down the bridge for several hours, but all lanes have since re-opened.
