LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- Lee County Sheriff's deputies found a dead body in a wooded area near the intersection of 2499 Lee Boulevard this morning.

They were called to the scene just before 8:30 a.m. for public assistance. About 15 minutes after arrival, deputies located a person in the woods. Paramedics pronounced the male subject deceased and deputies secured the scene.

Due to the limited visibility, a perimeter was established to prevent disturbing any potential indicators of what transpired or potential evidence if a crime occurred.

Detectives will not confirm the extent or type of injury sustained by the man. He has not been positively identified at this time. The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
