LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Lee County Sheriff's deputies are searching for the suspect accused of holding up a hotel employee at gunpoint Friday at 11:30 p.m.

Deputies responded to the Spring Hill Suites, located at 9501 Market Place Rd., where they met with an employee who told them the suspect entered the hotel and pointed a black, semi-automatic pistol at him. The employee gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, and the suspect fled the building in an unknown direction.

A witness said he saw the suspect enter the lobby, point a gun at the employee and demand money. The witness said the suspect then pointed the gun at him, so he ran out of the hotel, through the back door, to the next door hotel, where he was located by police. A K-9 assisted in locating the witness, but did not find any other evidence or suspects.

Both the employee and the witness said the suspect was wearing a green, hooded sweatshirt and a mask. If you have any information about this crime, you are asked to call Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
