LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - Steven Tompkins still sits behind bars at Lee County jail, as his family members try to understand what happened the day he allegedly killed his mother and brother.

WINK News this arrest warrant to Tompkin's cousin, Brandy Sullivan. After reading the report, she says there are still more questions than answers.

"Still doesn't really explain why you know. and that's the big thing, you know, we still don't know why," said Sullivan. More than one month later, Brandy Sullivan continues to mourn the loss of her aunt Shelley and cousin Danny.

"They know no matter what we still love them and miss them and we just want justice for them," said Sullivan.

Their alleged killer, Steven Tompkins, was caught on the run in Wyoming. He's now behind bars. According to the arrest warrant, Tompkins struck his mother in the head with a hammer, then shot his brother.

"The details are beyond anything I would have expected," said Sullivan.

In the arrest warrant, an online friend of his told deputies that "he would talk about his desire to kill his parents and live in the woods with Joycelin."

Joycelin Luck was his girlfriend, she's now charged with helping him run away. The arrest warrant says she was aware of Tompkin's alleged plan to kill them. The day of the murders, over Skype, "Joycelin asked Steven what he is doing, to which Steven replied, "sharpening my blade."

Joycelin then asked if steven wanted to talk, to which he said "can't in the middle of packing, they are dead so yea want to get this over soon."

"I think all of it shocks us, every single one of us, the community, family, everyone and the whole situation is shocking," said Sullivan.

In that warrant, deputies say Tompkins and Luck were allegedly running off the woods. Sullivan says Tompkins often talked about living a life out in the wilderness, but they never thought he was serious. Luck is behind bars as well, charged with accessory.
