FORT MYERS, Fla.- A 16-year-old allegedly robbed two victims at gunpoint Thursday afternoon on the 4700 block of Majorca Palms Drive

Just before 1:00 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department found the victims holding Adrian Mangual-Ayala at bay.

Police learned the two victims were at the Penny Saver, located at 724 Ortiz Avenue, cashing a check when the teen asked them for a ride home. The victims agreed and asked him to sit in the backseat of their red Oldsmobile.

While the victims were driving Mangual-Ayala home he brandished a firearm, placed it to the driver’s head and demanded money or he would kill them. The driver threw his money to the robber and the passenger jumped into the backseat to disarm him. The struggle ensued outside the vehicle where the victims were able to successfully restrain the teen until police arrival. Police located the firearm used during the offense in the backseat of the Oldsmobile after placing the teen into custody.

Mangual-Ayala was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained during the struggle with the victims. After he was treated and released he was charged with two counts of robbery with a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm under 18 years of age. The was also charged with violation of probation.
