COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- The Collier County Sheriff's Office was called to investigate a suspicious package at 5266 Golden Gate Parkway at 12:41 p.m.

Buildings in the area were evacuated as the bomb squad investigated the item in question.

The eastbound lanes of Golden Gate Parkway were shut down, but have since reopened.

Authorities deemed the item safe enough to move, and took it to an undisclosed location.

They are not sure how it got there, or what it is yet. The investigation continues.
