LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Lee County Sheriff's deputies were involved in a violent scuffle early Sunday morning, after finding a burglar armed with scissors in a victim's home.
According to his arrest report, deputies could hear 19-year-old Damian Pierce screaming from inside a home on the 14000 block of Crooked Pond Ct. just before 2:00 a.m. They entered the home and made contact with the owner, who said no one else had permission to be inside.
Deputies found Pierce in the living room, facing a wall. When he turned around, he allegedly went toward the deputies with scissors in his right hand. One deputy used a Taser on him, which caused Pierce to fall to the ground. The other deputy pinned Pierce to the ground to handcuff him, all the while Pierce continued kicking, punching and screaming. The deputy tried to deploy his Taser on Pierce again, with no effect.
Pierce was transported to Health Park hospital.
A K-9 located a Florida Gators bag behind the residence containing marijuana, crystal meth and drug paraphernalia. A black jacket was found near the bag, as well as a cell phone and an e-cigarette.
The homeowner told deputies he heard a banging noise that sounded like someone was trying to get into his home, which is when he called 911 and secured himself in his bedroom.
The room where the confrontation took place was in clear disarray. Holes were punched in the drywall, a window covering was damaged, furniture was overturned and there were dirt stains on the carpet.
Pierce faces charges of burglary, battery on an officer, resisting an officer with violence, burglary with assault, aggravated assault with deadly weapon, and criminal mischief property damage.
