FORT MYERS, Fla.- A man accused of killing his grandfather and leaving his body at a Cape Coral intersection in 2011 has pled no contest to Second Degree Murder.
Clinton Drake, now 21, admitted to getting into an argument with his grandfather in their Clewiston home before bludgeoning him to death, according to his arrest report.
He will have to serve 20 years in prison, and will get credit for time served. Drake will then have to serve 15 years of probation under special conditions, and will need to undergo mandatory psychiatric treatment.
At the sentencing, Drake's cousin, Kathleen Drake, delivered an emotional victim's impact statement directly to her cousin. She described the pain and anguish Clinton's actions brought their family. In the end she told Clinton the only thing she could do from here is forgive him for what he did and she said she hoped he could forgive himself.
