FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an early morning crash on I-75 involving a motorcycle and a truck towing a trailer.

Troopers say 25-year-old motorcyclist James Stirk, of Lehigh Acres, failed to slow down for the truck and crashed into the back of the truck's trailer around 2:00 a.m..

Stirk was then tossed off his motorcycle and into the trailer. He was then airlifted to Lee Memorial hospital where he is now recovering from critical injuries.

Strik was wearing a helmet.
