CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla.- There has been a fiber optic cut in a line that provides service for Verizon customers, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.
Cell phone service may be intermittent and could affect someone's ability to call out, including calling 911.
While they are working to fix the problem, be aware that you may not have cell phone service.
FPL FiberNet has experienced fiber damage at two locations. One in the South Sarasota County area and the other in Orlando. The damage was the result of other companies working in the areas.
Although, FiberNet’s fiber network is designed for maximum redundancy and diversely, these two events occurring almost simultaneously have impacted services between these locations where they are unable to reroute the traffic impacting our customers.
They are working with construction and splicing crews at both sites to repair the damages. Restoration of either one of locations will restore service to customers. The work is estimated to be completed by 8:00 p.m.
