LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help identifying a suspect accused of robbing an 80-year-old woman in a grocery store parking lot Tuesday afternoon.

According to detectives, the victim had just gotten into her car around 3:50 p.m. at the Publix, located at 6900 Daniels Parkway, when she saw a woman who was behind her in line motioning for her to come over to the suspect’s car. When she approached the car, the suspect forcefully grabbed the woman’s purse from her hand. The victim struggled with the suspect in an attempt to get her purse back, however the scuffle caused her to fall to the ground, causing minor injuries.

Witnesses said the suspect then fled at a high rate of speed out of the parking lot, with the victims purse in hand. Inside the purse was more than $100 cash, a drivers license, keys and several credit cards. Those cards were used immediately after the robbery, with the unknown female suspect charging up approximately $1,000 in fraudulent purchases at various area businesses.

The suspect was caught on camera using the victim’s credit card.

Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the suspect, who is described as roughly 35 years old, with a small frame, driving a four door white compact car, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
