COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- Two people were injured in a boating accident, off Keewaydin Island, around 11:15 a.m.
According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, one woman was transported as a trauma alert by Medflight to Lee Memorial Hospital. Another woman suffered minor injuries.
Five people were on board the 34-foot vessel, a "Searay Sundancer," when it ran aground, according to FWC.
The group was heading from Naples to Marco Island when the driver tried to make a 90 degree turn. Though he was an experienced driver, he didn't move fast enough and slammed into a sandbar, according to FWC.
The individuals on board were in their 50s and 60s.
Alcohol is not a factor in this crash.
