LEE COUNTY, Fla.- On Tuesday at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a traffic crash involving a marked patrol unit and a black Ford Super Duty Truck at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Hill Avenue.
The initial inspection at the scene indicated the marked patrol vehicle was travelling southbound in the center lane approaching Hill Avenue when the Ford Truck, driven by Roger Andrew Schmall, turned left and pulled directly into the path of the deputy striking him in the left side of the vehicle. Both vehicles sustained damage and were towed from the crash scene.
The deputy and the driver of the Ford Truck did not sustain any injuries. The passenger in the deputy’s vehicle was treated for a minor injury and released from Lee Memorial Hospital.
The crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
The roadway is open.
