LEE COUNTY, Fla. - A Sanibel man, who confessed to possessing and trading child pornography, has been sentenced to seven years in prison and lifetime supervision upon release.

Charles Nave III, 38, was sentenced in federal court this afternoon.

The maximum penalty he could have faced was 20 years.

He is also required to register as a sex offender and get sex offender treatment. Nave is not allowed contact with minors, but is allowed to see his four children.

He spoke in court today, telling the judge that he was "sorry for what he did." He also mentioned that he "took responsibility for his actions."

Nave admitted to having a problem with pornography for years, but only recently did he begin dealing with children. The US Attorney's Office said they found 300 plus images on his computer.

A group of supporters were behind him in court, enough to fill half the courtroom. His wife and others spoke on his behalf, saying he was a good man that was sorry for his sins.

He will have to report to prison by Feb. 7th.

Nave III entered a guilty plea in September as part of a plea agreement. He originally pleaded not guilty.
