CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Monday evening Cape Coral police responded to a crash involving a car and a motorcycle at the intersection of Ceitus Pkwy. and Burnt Store Rd.

When officers arrived on the scene they found the motorcycle rider, Shawn O'Brien, ejected from his bike and not wearing a helmet. O'Brien is in the ICU at Lee Memorial Hospital with life threatening injuries.

A report from CCPD says Dawn-Marie Eva Frieder was driving her car south on Burnt Store Rd. towards the intersection of Ceitus Pkwy. at the same time O'Brien was heading north on Burnt Store Rd. towards the same intersection. At the intersection, Frieder started to turn into the Walgreens parking lot. The report says Frieder drove directly in front of O'Brien who was not able to stop in time.

The motorcycle hit the front passenger side of Freider's car, throwing O'Brien from his bike. Frieder and a juvenile passenger suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene by EMS. CCPD says alcohol and drugs are not factors in the traffic crash.
