LEE COUNTY, Fla.- In a just-released Florida Highway Patrol report regarding a fatal Christmas hit and run accident, WINK News has learned the pedestrian failed to yield the right-of-way and was found in the roadway.

The crash happened on McGregor Blvd. at Kasamada, where officers found 48-year-old Michael Sasen occupying the northbound lane of McGregor Blvd., but it is unknown what direction he was going at the time of the crash.

Thirty minutes later, a vehicle "bearing crush damage consistent striking a pedestrian" was spotted driving past the scene. The driver, identified as State Attorney's Office investigator Charles Lawson, stopped and exited his car. At that time, Lawson became a suspect in the crash.

Lawson was arrested for DUI after failing a field sobriety test more than two hours after authorities began talking to him, according to the report. The vehicle he was driving was a state issued car.
