LEE COUNTY, Fla.- The man accused of dragging another with his vehicle before lunging at Cape Coral Police on Christmas Eve appeared before a judge this morning.
David Westerman faces charges of aggravated battery for dragging a man with his truck, and also for assault on a police officer.
Police shot him after he allegedly ignored their commands to stop the vehicle, and attempted to hit an officer.
According to the State Attorney's Office, Westerman has disregard for the value of life and the value of police.
The defense said the victim, who was dragged by Westerman's truck, had several cases pending him.
Westerman is not allowed any contact with the victim, and will be held without bond.
His next court date is January 27th.
