LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A Cape Coral realtor accused of scamming investors out of million of dollars will not get a jury trial.
Today, Judge John Steele denied Greg Eagle's motion to withdraw his guilty plea and request for a jury trial.
Eagle pleaded guilty to six federal counts of fraud in early 2013, after authorities said he forged documents, and cost his investors millions of dollars. Each of the six charges carries a maximum of 30 years in federal prison. But in November, Eagle filed a motion to withdraw that plea.
Yesterday, Eagle's lawyers, Wilbur Smith and Joe Viacava, filed a second motion requesting to be taken off the case.
Sentencing is set for January 3, 2014.
