SARASOTA, Fla. - The southbound lanes of I-75 have reopened after a dump truck hit an overpass in North Port overnight.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the incident happened around 2:35 a.m. Wednesday at the Ponce DeLeon Boulevard overpass, near mile marker 184.

The southbound lanes were anticipated to be closed between the River Road exit and Sumter Road for between 24 to 48 hours.
The Florida Department of Transportation sent bridge inspectors to the scene to assess the damage.

Motorists were detoured to U.S. 41 throughout the day.
