PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The State Fire Marshal has officially ruled the fire that started on Orange Dr. early this morning as arson.

The Sheriff’s Office and Charlotte County Fire/EMS were called to the report of a house fire early this morning at the same location where Sheriffs’ Office Narcotics detectives served a search warrant and arrested two people on Friday.

The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call shortly after 2:30 this morning that the house at 557 NW Orange Drive in Port Charlotte was on fire. Both deputies and Charlotte County Fire/EMS responded. The Fire Department had the fire under controlled in less than 18 minutes. Both Sheriff’s Office detectives and the Florida State Fire Marshal were called to the scene. The investigation of the fire is being conducted by the Fire Marshal’s office. No one was at the home at the time of the fire.

On Friday December 13, Sheriff’s Office Narcotics detectives and members of the Street Crimes Unit served a search warrant at the house. When nobody answered after they knocked on the door to announce their presence, they entered the house and found two people inside. Terry James Hoholik, 36, of that address, was found locked inside a bathroom. Megan Lynn Kukish, 25, of 2272 Starlite Lane in Port Charlotte, was located in a bedroom.

During the search, detectives located multiple items with both methamphetamine residue and MDMA residue in various locations within the house. They also located a small end of a rolled joint of marijuana in a candleholder.

Hoholik was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of MDMA, Possession of less than 20 grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was booked into the Charlotte County Jail and is being held on a $14,000 bond.

Kukish was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of less than 20 grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She is being held on a $4,000 bond. At the result of this arrest, she is also being held for an ‘off-bond’ from a previous arrest.

Both Hoholik and Kukish were still in custody at the Charlotte County Jail at the time of this morning’s fire.

Anyone with information concerning the fire at 557 NW Orange Drive is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office at (941) 639-2101 or the Fire Marshal via Charlotte County Fire/EMS at (941) 833-5600 (ask for the Fire Marshal).
