LEE COUNTY, Fla. - A Lee County Judge sentenced 31 year old Melissa Webb to life behind bars for the 2011 murder of her former boyfriend, Bryan Sorendino.
Webb was found guilty of second degree murder in November. Sorendino's mother took the stand, offering an impassioned victim's impact statement describing to the court how she and her family have suffered trying to cope with Sorendino's death. Bryan's father and aunt also spoke. Then Melissa Webb, the defendant, took the stand a offered the family a tearful apology. "I took Bryan's life", Webb said. She continued, "I am truly sorry and I know that will never be enough."
Sorendino had two young daughters. They are being raised by family members.
