LEE COUNTY, Fla.- As tributes and condolences pour in for Barbara B. Mann, Southwest Florida is finding ways to honor a woman who changed culture in Lee County.

Mrs. Mann died early Sunday morning at her home. She was 100.

Part of Mrs. Mann's legacy is the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall on the Fort Myers campus of Edison State College. It's just one of the many contributions she made the local arts community in the century she spent with us.

Mrs. Mann's love of theater and dance helped in her efforts to bring the regional performing arts hall to the city in 1986. In one of her last sit-down interviews, Mrs. Mann told WINK News she wanted to bring a better stage to the area, to build a more suitable hall that would serve the community throughout the ages.

Barbara's son, Frank Mann, who is a Lee County Commissioner, said his mother was a woman of energy and commitment, someone who wanted to make things happen.

A memorial service for Mrs. Mann will be held at 2:00 this coming Saturday, December 21, at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Fort Myers. The public is invited to attend.
