CAPE CORAL, Fla.- The Cape Coral Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred at a residence in the 2900 block of SW. 1st Pl. Officers were dispatched at around 11:18 p.m. on Saturday to reports of multiple shots fired.

A second caller also reported shots fired, just two minutes later.

While en route to the call, officers were advised that one subject had been shot and that another possibly had shot themselves. Officers arrived on scene to find one subject deceased from an apparent gunshot wound, and another subject critically injured from a apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. That subject has been transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.

A child at the residence was unharmed and has been taken into protective custody.

There are no suspects at large in this case, and there is no danger to the general public.

Forensics and Detectives along with uniform Patrol Officers are on scene, gathering evidence.  

The Cape Coral Police Department is not releasing names of the involved parties pending notification of next-of-kin.
