PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Last Friday, a Punta Gorda man reported that sometime between Sunday December 1 and Tuesday December 3, a suspect entered his pasture, located along Indian Trail near North Jones Loop Road, and cut the mane from a white and gray mare. The mane itself was a smoky black or charcoal gray color.

According to the horse’s owner, the mane hair can be sold for as much as $250 to $300 a pound. The hair is used for such things as making jewelry, artist brushes and strings for instruments.
