NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla.- Lee County Sheriff's deputies are searching for the suspect accused of killing a North Fort Myers man and stealing his truck, only to abandon it on I-75.

On Wednesday approximately 10:00 a.m., the Lee County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a medical assistance call at 69 West Mariana Avenue in North Fort Myers. Deputies responded and located a deceased male inside the residence.

Investigators discovered the victim’s white 2004 Ford Expedition (FL tag H82-1FD) was missing. It was later located abandoned on I-75 southbound near the Colonial Boulevard exit.

An autopsy was conducted by the District 21 Medical Examiner’s Office and a fingerprint comparison positively identified the decedent as 61-year-old Kurt Walter Nusbaum. Nusbaum’s death has been ruled a homicide.

Detectives are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying any persons that may have been given a ride or seen in the area of the vehicle.
