COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- The westbound lanes of U.S. 41 E. are closed from Shadowlawn Dr. to Airport-Pulling Rd. due to a water main break.

All westbound traffic is being diverted onto Airport Rd.

According to Justin Frederikson, with Utilities for the City of Naples, an 8-inch cast iron water line broke around 7:00 a.m., but the road wasn't closed until 12:30 p.m. when contracts could come out to fix it.

The pipe is between 30 and 40 years old.

It is still unknown what caused the break, but Frederikson believes the road may be open by midnight.

About 100 utilities customers have been impacted, but Frederikson said their water has been since turned back on.

Avoid the area, or expect delays.
