MATLACHA, Fla.- The new Matlacha bridge had an electrical glitch on Thanksgiving day, that kept the lift section of the bridge, in the up position for 30 minutes.   Some  people on Pine Island are not pleased at this latest incident.

Lee county says a technician was sent to fix the situation. Transportation officials explain: electricity is needed to lock the lift section back into place for vehicle traffic, after it is raised.

There was an electrical glitch that prevented the locking.

One man who waited in a line of cars told WINK News:   He was a bit frustrated by the delay, because he was heading to a Thanksgiving dinner.

Some on Pine Island have been concerned about the new bridge, which ran over on completion by more than one year.   Lee county is negotiating with the contractor to talk about possible damages for the over-run.
