LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Lee County plans to spend $186,000 to upgrade the 911 software system.

The program is nationally recognized and helps operators ask all the necessary questions when someone calls for a deputy.

The county already has software in place to help with fire and medical calls.

The money to pay for the system comes from surcharges that people pay on their cell-phone and land-line phone bills.
