COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- The remains of a 1-year-old uncollared male panther were recovered last night on Alligator Alley. The panther had been hit by a vehicle on I-75 near, near mile marker 92. It happened around 9:30 p.m.

This location is approximately 100 yards west of the FakaUnion Canal overpass, where the high fencing on Alligator Alley ends.

The carcass is currently stored at the FWC Naples Field Office and will be taken to the FWC Wildlife Research Lab in Gainesville for a complete necropsy. The remains will be archived in the Florida Museum of Natural History.

This is the 18th panther mortality and the 15th road mortality for 2013.
