COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- Those fighting to stop oil drilling in Golden Gate Estates brought their battle to the Collier County delegation today. They asked the delegation to sign a resolution banning hydraulic fracturing. They also want to create a one-mile buffer zone to protect people living near the proposed oil well site.

Those who oppose the drilling call themselves the Stonecrab Alliance.

"We're invting them, yet again, to join us in really making oil drilling safer for the residents. We don't think anyone should have to live at evacuation zone. They're at risk," said Karen Dwyer, of the Stonecrab Alliance.

They have hearings scheduled beginning next year with environmental agencies at both the state and federal levels.
