LEE COUNTY, Fla. - An 18-year-old Fort Myers man was arrested for the rape and attempted murder of a woman from back in September.

Tuesday morning, Keylon Barrett appeared before a judge and was granted bond at $250,000 for each charge. The judge also ordered Barrett have no contact with alleged victim, and stay away from the location of the offense. He must also surrender all weapons.

The alleged incident happened September 8, according to Barrett's arrest warrant.

According to the document, Fort Myers Police officers took the victim's statement at Lee Memorial Hospital, where she was receiving care. The unnamed woman said she had gotten there after running for help and flagging down a car.

The victim said she was walking home from a store on Royal Palm Avenue when Barrett forced her into a nearby field and raped her at gunpoint. She told police he then shot her in the face and ran away.

According to the arrest warrant, the victim knew her attacker. She identified Barrett in a photographic lineup and the DNA profile obtained from the rape kit matched that of the profile submitted by Barrett.
