PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the victim in this morning's fatal crash on US 41 at Notre Dame Blvd. as 24-year-old Angel Hoyt.
Hoyt was hit by an SUV just after 6:00 a.m. when he was traveling north on U.S. 41 on a motorized bike. According to FHP, when Hoyt tried to turn left onto St. Pierre Rd., he didn't yield the right of way. The driver of the SUV was going about 50 mph and didn't see the man until she hit him.
FHP said it was dark and the man wasn't wearing a helmet or reflectors, and he did not have any lights on his bike.
Hoyt was an employee of the roofing company Dr. Goodroof. The company's owner said the man was driving to work when he was hit. The owner called him a good employee.
U.S. 41 has since re-opened.
