HENDRY COUNTY, Fla.- The Army Corp of Engineers has ramped up freshwater releases from Lake Okeechobee into the Caloosahatchee.
At last check, the lake level was close to 15 feet. That's almost a foot over where the Corp wants it to be.
Freshwater is released to ease pressure on the old Hoover Dike, to avoid flooding.
The increased releases will continue through the week.
