LEE COUNTY, Fla.-  A Southwest Florida mother is behind bars after flipping a jeep with her kids in it. Deputies say she was drunk.

The rollover happened just before 2:00 p.m. on U.S. 41 and Elwood Road in Lee County.  Deputies say 45-year-old Christina Cavanaugh was approaching Elwood Road when she suddenly changed lanes, losing control of her vehicle and hitting an SUV.

Witnesses told detectives that Cavanaugh and her two children were able to get out the of vehicle.  Investigators said when they approached Cavanaugh, they smelled alcohol on her breath. Cavanaugh did agree to do a field sobriety test and failed it.

Officers tried to arrest her but she resisted. Deputies tell WINK News they found two empty wine bottles in the front seat of the Jeep.
