GOLDEN GATE, Fla. - An older couple was arrested after a noisy marijuana grow-house bust in golden gate estates Friday.
Collier county deputies say 70-year-old Margarita Gaviria and 59-year-old Jorge Franco* were running a marijuana growing operation in the middle of the neighborhood.
Neighbor Cheryl Earl said, "A lot of trucks and suvs and what I assume was detectives. we heard, I assume the Sheriff, on his loud horn telling them to come out. then we heard the bang of the doors going down."
It was Sheriff's deputies out to serve a search warrant along the 2300 block of 8th Avenue Southeast. According to the official report... the team found two pounds of marijuana and 30-thousand dollars in growing equipment inside the house. It was there they arrested Gaviria and Franco. But, that's not where the pair lives, deputies say that house is two blocks away... on 6th Avenue Southeast. It also got a visit from law enforcement. The sheriff's office tells Wink News it found 66-thousand dollars worth of marijuana plants growing inside. When we spoke to neighbors... they all agreed: they did not know the arrested couple, nor did they know anything illegal was happening a few doors down.
