FORT MYERS, Fla.- Fort Myers Police are searching for the suspect accused in an attempted bank robbery on Tuesday around 4:45 p.m.

Police responded to Wells Fargo Bank, located at 9250 Six Mile Cypress Parkway, where they learned that an unknown suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note. The teller couldn’t read the writing, so she handed the note back to the suspect. The suspect ran out of the bank and then attempted to take a purse from a woman in the parking lot. The suspect fled the scene empty-handed.

No one was hurt.

Surveillance cameras inside the bank captured the suspect on video. Anyone with information is asked to call FMPD at 321-7700, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS or text message C-R-I-M-E-S (274637) Keyword FMPD. Tipsters can remain anonymous. Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the suspect could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
