FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla.- The inaugural Ted Todd Insurance Ft. Myers Beach Marathon will take place in and around Ft. Myers and Ft. Myers Beach on Sunday, November 10.
Nearly 1,500 runners will compete in the Ft. Myers Beach Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K.
The following roads will have runners on them for portions of the race course:
• San Carlos Blvd. – 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
• Summerlin Square Road – 7:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
• Summerlin (West of Gladiolus) – 7:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
• Gladiolus (To Lakes Regional Park) – 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
• Summerlin (Gladiolus – Cypress Lakes) – 7:45 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
All intersections will be monitored by Lee County Sheriff personnel with the traffic able to cross and flow under their direction. Please note that traffic will be held for periods of time in the Summerlin-Gladiolus intersection, as well as other heavily traveled intersections (Winkler, Bass, Pine Hill Ridge).
The Matanzas Bridge will be closed from 6:50 a.m. – 7:20 a.m. at the start of the race and then re-opened. Drivers should proceed with caution when departing the beach since runners will be in a coned lane adjacent to traffic, traveling in an east (off island) direction. Expect delays in the early morning to noon in this area. Lee Tran will offer free transportation to all runners/spectators from Summerlin Square to the Times Square area starting at 5:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 10th
