Fort Myers Beach, Fla.-The inaugural Ted Todd Insurance Fort Myers Beach Marathon is scheduled for today. This event will have about 1,500 runners competing. Thirty-seven states and 5 countries will also be represented in today's race. These roads will be used during portions of the race;
San Carlos Boulevard – 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
Summerlin Square Road -7:15 a.m.- 12:45 p.m.
Summerlin (West of Gladiolus) - 7:15 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
Gladiolus (To Lakes Regional Park) - 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Summerlin (Gladiolus-Cypress Lake Drive.) - 7:45 a.m.- 11:45 a.m.
The Matanzas Bridge will be closed from 6:50-7:20 a.m. at start of the race and then reopen.
Drivers should proceed with caution when departing the beach because runners will be in a coned lane adjacent to traffic, traveling east (off island). Expect delays in the early morning to noon in this area, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.
