MIAMI (AP) - Authorities say one man is dead and five people are injured following an explosion at a South Florida plastics plant.

Miami-Dade police report that a large chemical storage tank exploded Thursday afternoon at American Vinyl Company in Opa-Locka.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded with rescuers and a hazmat team. Fire officials say the explosion was most likely caused by pressure.

Officials say the tank actually launched into the air. It wasn't immediately clear if the victim was killed by the explosion or the tank falling on him.

The Miami Herald (http://goo.gl/je3B2B ) reports that two of those injured were taken to a nearby hospital, while three others were treated at the scene.
