2 dead, child critically injured from fatal SUV and truck crash in Immokalee

The Florida Highway Patrol and the Collier County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal crash that killed two people in Immokalee.

According to FHP, the crash was reported at approximately 12:18 a.m. on Wednesday on SR-29 and Oil Well Road.

According to the FHP press release, an SUV traveling west on Oil Well Road was approaching a stop sign at the intersection of SR-29.

A truck traveling south on SR-29 was approaching the intersection.

The SUV entered the intersection, failing to yield the right of way to the approaching truck.

The truck then collided with the right side of the SUV, causing both vehicles to enter the grass shoulder of the road and overturn.

The driver, a 26-year-old female, and the front passenger, a 52-year-old female, died on the scene.

A 4-year-old child was critically injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
