HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. - A body found in Clewiston Wednesday has been confirmed to be that of a woman. The Palm Beach County Sheriff confirmed the body's gender exclusively to affiliate WPEC in West Palm Beach Friday morning.

Investigators are trying to figure out whether it could be Kimberly Lindsey, a Palm Beach County woman who went missing earlier this week. She is a school nurse at a middle school in West Palm Beach and mother of three.

A search effort has been underway since Monday, when the 49-year-old didn't show up for work. Her oldest daughter, Sarah Lambert, received a text message from her Sunday night. Authorities say that was the last time anyone has heard from her.

"None of us ever thought this would happen, and nobody ever does think it will happen," said Lambert, 20. "But when it does, it hits you so hard."

The body found Wednesday was discovered off Evercane Road near Blumberg Road. The area is about 19 miles from South Bay in Palm Beach County.

According to WPEC, Palm Beach County detectives are following up with the Hendry County Sheriff's Office, as well as the Fort Myers Police Department and Lee County Sheriff's Office to determine if the unidentified body found in Clewiston has any ties to Lindsey.
