FORT MYERS, Fla.-McGregor Blvd. is now open after a vehicle crash with injuries.. The Northbound lanes  at AW Bulb Rd. were closed for several hours due

to a  vehicle crash involving a scooter..  On Friday, at 5:24pm, the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call about a vehicle versus scooter crash. The

incident occurred at 13601 McGregor Blvd in South Fort Myers.  Upon arrival deputies discovered the driver of a 2009 VW Passat struck a 1986 scooter

resulting in the driver being ejected off the scooter. The driver of the scooter William Jacobs of Fort Myers sustained life threatening injuries and was

transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.  Due to the nature of the incident, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit were assigned to continue

the investigation. Preliminary information reveals the driver of the VW Passat Christopher Solt of Fort myers  was traveling south on McGregor Boulevard

and attempted to make a U-turn. The opposing traffic in the inside left lane stopped. Solt proceeded to make a U-turn and did not notice the scooter in

the far right lane resulting in the crash.
