FORT MYERS, Fla. - At the beginning of 2013, the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers moved its last families out of the Sabal Palm Apartments. Since then a restoration project has been underway. It was scheduled to be completed in December of 2014 but the project manager says because most of the work is going on inside the buildings, rain and other weather conditions have not been a factor. The renovations at Sabal Palm are part of a 20 million dollar project which will also see a new complex built on the site where the Palmetto Court apartments once stood.
