CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Cape Coral Police need your help identifying a suspect in a string of cigarette thefts. Recently, an unknown subject has committed several thefts of cigarettes from various convenience stores in south Cape Coral.

The thefts that have been documented as:

-10/14/13, around 9:22 a.m. at Hess Express, 1020 Santa Barbara Blvd.

-10/17/13, around 10:00 p.m. at Seven Eleven, 1608 Skyline Blvd.

-10/18/13, around 8:48 p.m. at Dollar General, 1612 Skyline Blvd.

-10/21/13, around 8:47 a.m. at Seven Eleven, 1608 Skyline Blvd.

-10/22/13, around 10:40 a.m. at Dollar General, 1612 Skyline Blvd. (This was an attempt only.)

-10/22/13, around 2:18 p.m. at Hess Express, 1020 Santa Barbara Blvd.

Police said a white male entered the stores and approached the counter, asking for carton(s) of cigarettes (either, Marlboro Black 100s, Marlboro Red, or Newport 100s). The store associate placed the carton(s)/cigarette(s) on the counter, the man acted as if he was waiting to pay with a debit/credit card, then asked for a single pack of another brand that was on the wall behind each of the clerks. When the clerk turned his/her back to retrieve it, the man grabs the cigarettes and left without paying. Each time, he left on foot, toward the back of the store, near the dumpsters, where store personnel lost sight of him. It is unknown if a waiting vehicle assists him, or if anyone else is involved.

The suspect appeared to be a white male between the ages of 25 and 35, with short strawberry-blonde/brown short hair, a slight beard, approximately 5’6”-6’, 150-170lbs, wearing distinctive tennis shoes (possibly Air Jordans, white on top and black on bottom), and thin to lean build. In other store videos, he wore an orangish-red NY baseball hat and flip-flops or slides.
